Disaster Auction

The 2024 Shenandoah District Church of the Brethren Disaster Auction and Sale will be Friday, May 17 – Saturday, May 18, at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds (4808 South Valley Pike, Harrisonburg, Virginia).

This year, the auction has received a gift of an Abner Zook painting to offer to the highest bidder. Read more about Abner Zook and his unique folk art style here.

This year’s schedule includes:

Feb. 20: The numbers of auction booklets, flyers and posters requested for advertising to congregations and in the community due to Catherine Lantz.

Mar. 29: Early-bird auction booklet and advertising materials pick-up from 3-7 p.m. at the District Office.

Apr. 5: Regular auction booklet and advertising materials pick-up from 3-7 p.m. at the District Office.

Apr. 15: Last day to submit photos of auction items for Facebook posts.

May 13: Last day to register for the golf tournament at the reduced rate.

May 14: Volunteers needed to set up at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds.

May 16: Auction items may be dropped off from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds

May 17: SDDA Golf Tournament at Heritage Oaks in Harrisonburg, 7:30 a.m.

Early morning drop off for auction items, please plan to arrive prior to noon.

The fast food booth opens at 11:30 a.m.

Auction and Sale open at 1 p.m. to include the first silent auction and purchase of arts, crafts, baked goods, plants at the pavilion, outside tent sales, and the quilt display preview for Saturday’s auction will be open.

Plate Dinner begins at 4 p.m.

Silent Auction #2 begins at 5 p.m.

Livestock Auction: The concession stand opens at 5 p.m., Devotions at 6:15 p.m., and the auction begins at 6:30 p.m.

Main Auction: 6:30 p.m. featuring arts, furniture and selected handiworks

May 18: Auction and Sale opens at 7 a.m. with breakfast and third silent auction from 7 – 8:30 a.m.

Donuts, arts, crafts, baked goods and plant sales open at 8 a.m.

Outside tent sales begin at 8:30 a.m.

Worship service at 8:45 a.m.

Main auction begins with arts, crafts, handmade furniture.

Quilts added to auction items beginning at 10 a.m.

Children’s activities under the big white tent from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Silent Auction # 4 is open from 10 – 11:30 a.m.

Fast food booth operates from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Coin Auction at 10:30 a.m. in the rear of the exhibit building.

Strawberry pie by the slice will be available at 10:30 a.m.

Plate lunch and BBQ chicken and pulled pork on sale

Large item auction begins at 11 a.m.

Theme basket auction begins at 1 p.m.

May 31: Rain date for the Golf Tournament.
